Cobalt Carbonate with molecular formula CoCO3 is also an inorganic compound which is a precursor to catalysts. This reddish paramagnetic solid also acts as an intermediate for the hydro-metallurgical purification of cobalt from its ores. Cobalt Carbonate is prepared from heating of a solution of sodium bicarbonate with cobaltous sulfate. This compound is a very good component of dietary supplements as cobalt is a necessary element. Application
Cobalt carbonate is a precursor to cobalt carbonyl and various cobalt salts. It is a component of dietary supplements since cobalt is an essential. It is a precursor to blue pottery glazes, famously in the case of Delftware.

Cobalt carbonate is used as a catalyst in the refining industry, as a ceramic pigment, and as a mineral supplement for livestock.
